A DRUG bust by police in Chipping Sodbury has uncovered more than £1,000-worth of a suspected Class A drug.

Police found 33 clear plastic bags each containing half a gram of what is believed to be cocaine with an estimated value of £1,500 during the raid last Friday.

Eight ounces of what is believed to be cannabis with an estimated value of £8,000 was also found at the house in Andrew Millman Close along with £450 in cash.

Police believe the discovery of the cash supports their suspicions that the occupant was dealing cocaine.

Sgt Andy McIlrath said: "It will no doubt surprise local people that hard drugs such as cocaine are being supplied in Chipping Sodbury.

"This very successful warrant demonstrated our commitment to eradicating the supply of Class A drugs from Chipping Sodbury and Thornbury sector and I have no doubt we have made a significant impact in this area."

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply and will appear at North Avon Magistrates' Court today.

Three other local people aged between 16 and 20 were also arrested and have been released on police bail awaiting forensic examination of the white powder discovered.
