I AM very pleased that Jim Duffy (Letters, February 25) is at last getting the message. Yes, it is personal. I am not qualified and neither, I suspect, is he to discuss matters of nuclear physics or engineering, nor have I claimed to represent the local liaison council.
I write as an elected parish councillor and so have a mandate to be interested in matters relating to residents of Oldbury and I know people who do know about nuclear power generation and are happy to live and work in Oldbury and make a contribution to our safety by planning the controlled shut down in 2008 and subsequent decommissioning.
The NII, the EA and the NDA have said safety monitoring at Oldbury has not been reduced.
If Jim Duffy succeeds in his campaign against nuclear power we shall depend on Siberian gas to generate electricity - frightening thought.
Why not have a campaign against coal-fired electricity in China where 12,000 miners a year are killed versus UK Nuclear, nil.
You can reply if you like, Jim, I shall say no more on this, I have said who I have faith in.
