Yate Town 2 Bromsgrove Rovers 2

YATE were two goals to the good by half-time but they missed good chances and allowed fellow promotion seekers Bromsgrove back in to level the match.

It's very disappointing for Rich Thompson's side who have taken only two points from their last three games and are now giving themselves a lot to do.

Yate started well enough and burst out of the blocks with a fourth minute goal when Darren Edwards headed home Dave Elsey's inswinging free kick.

Further Yate chances went begging, including Jason Woods firing over the bar from close range and Lee Jefferies missing with a header.

Darren Edwards also hit a good chance wide of the target but made amends from the penalty spot after Justin Pritchard had been fouled.

But straight after the turn-round, Bromsgrove were back in contention when Carl Tranter found the net from a good cross.

Despite Mike Wyatt going close for Yate, Bromsgrove found an equaliser through Paul Szewczyk, leaving Yate ruing their missed opportunities.

Rich Thompson commented: "The result was very disappointing for us. We were leading 2-0 and should have been three or four up, and then allowed them back into the game. We also hit the post and missed chances at the end."

He added: "We are playing good football but unless Darren Edwards is knocking them in, we are not scoring. Goals from other areas seem to have dried up."

l Yate are away to mid-table Marlow on Saturday, the first time Yate have played them so far this season.

Then on Tuesday, Yate entertain Mangotsfield at Lodge Road in this much awaited derby fixture.

"This will be a massive game," said Thompson. "Mangotsfield are running away with the league but we need the win far more than them and we won't be doing them any favours.
