SUPERMARKET giants Morrisons announced this week that it had created 95 new jobs in Yate.
The newly-converted Morrisons store in Station Road will open its doors to shoppers for the first time next month.
The announcement was welcomed by Yate town councillor Sue Walker.
She said: "We very much welcome new jobs to the area. The store seems to be very good value and I have been very impressed by the way they have wanted to become involved in the community."
The former Safeway outlet has been transformed as part of a rolling conversion programme that will see four Safeway stores per week changing to Morrisons nation-wide.
General manager of the Yate store Alasdair Welch said: "We are confident the store will be a huge success and that is why we have created 95 new full and part-time jobs to cope with the extra business we will be generating."
"The recruitment programme was a great success and we created roles right across the store. We now have a first class team in place to ensure we give the very best service to new and regular shoppers."
