A CLUB for children with severe burns has scored a big donation from young soccer stars in Yate.
Frenchay Hospital's After Burns Club helps youngsters who were injured in fires and suffer from a lack of confidence as a result of their burns. It sends children away on holiday camps and helps improve their self-esteem.
The club relies on charitable donations and has this year been chosen as South Gloucestershire Soccer Schools' beneficiary.
The latest soccer training week - held at King Edmund Community School in the autumn - raised more than £500 for the club, after parents and future footballing legends bought hundreds of raffle tickets.
A cheque was handed to nurses who work voluntarily for the club at a presentation event on Saturday.
Lots of children who took part in the soccer week turned up to donate the money, and to meet Rachel Allen, star of Bristol City Ladies' Football Club.
Organiser Nigel Kent said he was really pleased with the amount of money made and thanked the Yate businesses, which donated prizes for the raffle.
