SIR - On behalf of Dursley Male Voice Choir may I publicly thank everyone who was involved in the presentation of the concert last Saturday for the Tsunami Appeal.

Anyone who has staged such a concert particularly at short notice will understand the logistics involved and the co-operation necessary between choir members, performers and the general public.

The evening was a success beyond our wildest expectations and we are proud to announce that total income for the evening amounted to £6,560. As there were no expenses, this is the final sum that will be passed over to the appeal fund.

May I also thank local traders who so generously donated the most fantastic prizes for our grand draw and particular thanks to Rover European Travel in giving a holiday in Spain.

Finally, a big 'thank you' to the general public who supported this event and in so generously contributing to both the draw and various other donations.

Dursley Choir is so very fortunate to have such loyal support and although this was a concert which none of us wish we had to perform, we sincerely hope and pray that the money raised will be put to good use and have a beneficial effect on the lives of those so desperately affected by this terrible disaster.
