Almondsbury FC 1 Chard Town 3
ALMONDSBURY slumped to a third consecutive defeat, beaten 3-1 at home by Chard. Injuries had forced some changes in the home side, and though the youngsters did quite well, experienced players were missed.
They team started well enough, but a bumpy and heavy pitch had more of an impact on the Almondsbury game than it did on a more direct Chard approach.
The first half was something of a non-event, with neither side able to fashion any serious chances, but 10 minutes into the second half Almondsbury pulled ahead though a Danny Cochrane free-kick.
This should have boosted the home side but instead they sat back and allowed the visitors back into the game.
Chard scored three goals in a 10 minute spell, all from crosses, and it was all over, leaving a very disappointed Almondsbury FC licking their wounds ahead of their GFA Trophy game on the Tuesday.
Almondsbury FC travel to Elmore this Saturday.
