GFA Trophy Hallen 1 Almondsbury FC 0
HALLEN convincingly moved through to the semi-finals of the GFA Trophy with a 1-0 scoreline which failed to mirror their superiority.
Man of the match had to be Almondsbury's goalkeeper Scott Kendall, who pulled off a string of top drawer saves in the second half.
Almondsbury started the game at a blistering pace and for the first half hour chased everything down, working their socks off.
But they created little in the way of chances and on 30 minutes nearly went behind when Ronny Mowatt hit their crossbar.
A few minutes later Hallen had a header cleared off the line and right on half-time they were awarded a penalty after Jason Reynolds was pulled down in the box, with Andy Cook scoring from the spot.
That was the only score of the game, but the second half was virtually all Hallen. While Almondsbury keeper Kendall was performing heroics to keep the score down, his opposite number Steve Scannell didn't have a shot to save.
Hallen manager commented: "We were just too strong for them but they stuck at it and threw everything at us for the first 30 minutes."
Hallen will now meet Ellwood in the semi-final on March 12 at a venue to be arranged.
