GOLFERS in South Gloucestershire have been teeing off to help the devastated lives of tsunami victims.
Members at The Bristol Golf Club in Almondsbury took to the greens on Saturday as part of a special competition day - the proceeds of which will all go to the tsunami appeal.
A total of 42 teams-of-two withstood the howling winds and torrential downpours to help raise funds for the millions of people who have been displaced and the thousands of children orphaned throughout Asia.
The event was part of a national fund-raising day involving golf clubs all over Britain. It raised £585, which will now be sent to the Disasters Emergency Committee, which is co-ordinating the British relief effort.
The club's golf operations manager, Alan Palmer, said: "It all went very well and if every golf club in the country raises something similar, it should be a good donation."
A special edition of Golf World magazine will publish the results of all competitions, which raised money for the tsunami appeal.
Saturday's winners at The Bristol will be treated to a three-course dinner at The Bristol Inn near Falfield.
