Shrivenham FC 2 Tytherington Rocks 3
AS last week's home match against Quarry Nomads was postponed this match against Shrivenham was an important game for the Rocks to win.
Tytherington put on some early pressure with Tavis Carter striking from outside the area, only to see it go just wide of the far post.
Their first major chance came when the midfielders showed good link up play with a great run on the left hand side from Fiddel Richards whose pass found Leon Simpson. He slotted the ball through to Tony Perry but unfortunately the ball sailed over the crossbar.
After 24 minutes, brilliant passing from the midfield split the Shrivenham defence open with a through ball to Tavis Carter who placed the ball past the Shrivenham goal keeper. 0-1.
Shortly after, Shrivenham equalised with a curling shot to make it 1-1.
Rocks fought back for the lead, and a fine move involving Richards, Jimmy Potts and Paul Howse who crossed to Leon Simpson, ended with Simpson's header being tipped over the bar.
Then a good shot from Tavis Carter on the edge of the area, was deflected and scraped the side of the woodwork.
On half-time the Rocks were awarded a free-kick from 30 yards out with Leon Simpson's header beating the keeper, but being handled on the line by a defender. The defender was sent off and Potts safely dispatched the penalty. 1-2.
Rocks started the second half under some pressure but they rallied and set up some good chances which unfortunately were not taken.
Gary Cripps fired over the bar and Potts slotted outside a post after a good run.
Shrivenham kept trying and on 82 minutes they hit the post. This was followed by a fantastic save by Rocks keeper Robbie Dent.
But it was Tytherington's day when they got their third goal of the game. A free kick taken by Gary Cripps on the edge of the area was crossed far post to Carter. Carter's shot was spilled by the Shrivenham keeper and Leon Simpson ran on to it and scored. 1-3
In the dying minutes of the game Shrivenham pulled one back when substitute Michael Silvanus left keeper Dent staring at his defenders.
l Rocks' next game is home against Harrow Hill, with kick-off at 2.15pm.
