SIR - The South Gloucestershire Council budget papers issued to members of the public at a recent area forum meeting state: "Item S28 - To provide more effective and efficient working through the rationalisation of office accommodation leading to improved service delivery and reduced costs in future years - £400,000".

Rather than leave this culture of yuppy speak on the back burner perhaps, at this moment in time, it should come within remit of the chief executive to take on board the arrangement of a structured senior management development and team building seminar at which directors learn to communicate in plain English.

An English translation would help us to understand how £400,000 is being spent.
