YATE Meet a Mum Association has been awarded a grant that has given food for thought.
The association, which helps mothers with post-natal depression, has received more than £300 from Dodington Parish Council to ensure the future of their cake sales.
The events, which raise vital funds for the Yate branch of the society, were under threat because of new health and safety regulations.
Chairman Helen Reed said: "We raise most of our money by having raffles, doing sponsored events and holding regular cake stalls. Our biggest fundraiser is holding a cake stall at Yate Festival."
However, as the festival - normally held in July - was controversially cancelled last year, the group had been unable to buy equipment to meet health and safety standards.
She added: "I am lucky enough to have a passion for baking and hold a catering and food and hygiene certificate to enable us to have a cake stall. Health and Safety rules mean all cake have to be covered which is why we are looking to buy a bag sealing machine."
