A SPECIAL collection at Thornbury Methodist Church on Sunday raised over £300 for the tsunamu victims and another collection is being taken this Sunday.
Chairman of the Bristol Methodist district the Rev Ward Jones says the response by the general public to the devastating disaster has been phenomenal - and the Church was also doing its bit.
"There are a lot of events happening around the district - churches open for prayer and fundraising being organised. The ripple effect of such prayerful action is unbelievable. It is a light in the tunnel of this tragic natural disaster. As you look around the world at large, the divine spark in every human being has been touched in so many people in ways previously unparalleled.
People seem to realise that their small gift, action or prayer can make a real difference when added to similar contributions."
