IN THE the wake of the recent disaster in the Indian Ocean parishioners in Oldbury-on-Severn have banded together to host a soup lunch in the Methodist Chapel tomorrow (11.30am-2pm). A bring and buy stall will be available. All parishioners and visitors are welcome to attend and help give help to those in need.

MEMBERS of Thornbury Methodist Church are holding a lunch of soup, cheese, rolls and fresh fruit to raise funds for the Tsunami Appeal on Wednesday (noon-2pm). This is an opportunity for anyone in the town - not just Methodist Church members - to share a meal and give a donation to help the people of Asia. ALVESTON Methodist Church will be holding a coffee morning in the church hall today (10am). There will be a raffle and numerous stalls all in aid of the Tsunami Appeal.

St HELEN'S Church, Alveston will be the venue tomorrow (7.30pm)for local musicians and singers to join forces in a special fundraising concert in aid of the Disaster Relief Appeal. Offers to perform from local groups are welcome. Tickets are £5 and 100 percent of the proceeds will be sent to the fund. There will be refreshments and a raffle. VOLUNTEERS for the British Red Cross will be collecting for the survivers of the Asia Earthquake and Flood Appeal at Tesco in Thornbury tomorrow and Sunday.

GAIL TRENT, from Going Places in Yate Shopping Centre, has confirmed all its customers had returned from areas hit by the tsunami. Last week the Gazette reported that the travel company was still awaiting news on five clients who were feared missing on holiday on the Indian Ocean islands. She said on Tuesday: "They are all back home safe and well."

THE SHELTERED accommodation at Daldry Gardens had a coffee morning on Tuesday and collected £325 for the Tsunami Appeal. In addition, £80 of the money raised by the Thursday whist drive is also being send to the appeal.

SHOPPERS can give their spare change directly to the British Red Cross Asia Earthquake and Flood Appeal through Coinstar. Simply take coins to one of 800 leading supermarkets and pour them into the big blue Coinstar machine, usually just inside the entrance. Coinstar counts the coins at a rate of 600 a minute. The money will then be forwarded straight to the appeal. The machine issues a gift aid receipt that can be sent to the British Red Cross to give an extra 28p per pound donated to the appeal.
