SIR - I am writing as I feel so inflamed by an article in The Mail on Sunday on May 23 on regarding culling of robins at our local garden centre, Wyevale, on the A38 near Thornbury.
I am aghast that such a thing could take place. They gave conflicting reasons for this, the alarm going off, then hygiene threat for their restaurant. Which is the true reason?
Surely a more reasonable solution could have been reached. There was no need to cull the chicks - this from a centre that sells caged birds and pets, not very pet-friendly in my view.
I did visit the centre regularly for garden products and pet produce but I will never set foot in the place again after this outrageous act.
I have seen the robins flying around in there but always around the garden produce section where there are indoor plants etc. So petty and mean of such a high-profile company. To me they now sit in the realms of the lowest of low.
