WOMEN members of staff at Thornbury's Tesco store raised £1,700 for the fight against cancer on Sunday when they took part in the Race of Life event on Clifton Downs.
"It was very hot and there were times when some of us wished we were back in the store working on the chillers," said organiser Freda Pomphrey.
"But it was still a lot of fun and more than 25 of us turned out for the race. We're delighted with the sum we raised for Cancer Research UK and we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone - customers and staff - who supported us."
The three-mile race - held over two days because of the heavy demand for places - raised an estimated £700,000, taking total proceeds over the past ten years to £2million.
