SIR - Please allow me to correct your otherwise accurate account Town Service is Safe (Gazette, May 7).

I actually said: "You can never find a parking space in the town CENTRE NEAR THE HIGH STREET POST OFFICE".

The seven words you missed out are important!

People should not worry about finding somewhere to park in Thornbury. Except at rare peak periods, like the weeks before Christmas, it is usually quite easy to find a parking place in one of the town's three car parks, in Safeway's small one, and even in the High Street itself though not often near to the post office.

It is not far from the car parks to the High Street for those who can walk easily, but it is more difficult for those who cannot.

Previously people could usually park at the Oakleaze Road parade of shops, and use the post office there. That was one of the main reasons why councillors protested, in vain, at the closure of a very useful post office.
