SODBURY Town Council saw a big shake-up in the parish elections, with seats changing hands on all wards.
In the hotly-contested south west ward, 11 candidates stood for just five seats.
Town mayor Paul Whittle and his wife Wendy (both Con) were re-elected alongside district councillor Linda Boon and her husband Adrian Rush (both Lib Dems).
The final place went to Lib Dem newcomer James Kendall, pipping long-serving councillors Rod and Melody Gall to the post. Chairman of the town’s chamber of commerce and local hotelier, Mark Lloyd, also failed to win a seat as an independent.
Paul Robins (Lib Dem) and Paul Young (Con) are joined by Paul Jobbins (Lib Dem) on the north east ward as well as Sally Crook (Lib Dem) and Paddy Smith (Con).
In the Old Sodbury ward, UKIP candidate Dave Anthony failed to win enough votes and Iain Campbell (Independent) lost his seat. Newcomers Rob Barritt (Con) and independents Pat Downes and Andy Williams were all elected alongside John Allard (Con) and Paul Tily (Independent).
Chairman Cllr Paul Whittle said: "It is nice to see some fresh faces and will be interesting to see what the future brings."
Yate Town Council has remained firmly in the hands of the Liberal Democrats.
Although all the seats were contested, only one of the 17 councillors will change. Former town mayor and Lib Dem member Alan Monaghan is to take over a seat on the west ward from Joe Hughes, who has stepped down.
In Hawkesbury Upton, chairman Sue Hope regained a seat. Other parish and town councils were uncontested.
