TWO large signs have been stolen from outside a Chipping Sodbury quarry.

The interpretation panels, featuring information about local places of interest which are the responsibility of South Gloucestershire Council, were ripped out of place from the entrance to Hanson’s Ridge Wood plant and the town’s Jubilee Gardens.

Richard Aston, from the council’s sustainability, heritage and environmental projects team, said: "Both panels were ripped from their mountings, the mounting screws still being in place.

"This matter has been reported to the police. Any information regarding the theft of these panels and their whereabouts would be gratefully received."

He added: "A search of the woodland and immediate area has been conducted though nothing has been found to date.

"Replacement panels will now need to be sourced, though at this time it is not possible to provide a date as to when this will take place."

The signs were stolen over the Royal Wedding Bank Holiday. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0845 456 7000.
