CHILDREN celebrated the opening of their new £50,000 play park, while Kinsgwood Parish Council pledged there would be more to come.

The new play equipment replaced the 20 year old items in a bad state of repair on the playing field and was paid for with a grant from the developers of the Tyndale View development.

However the parish council said they have further plans for the site including possibly a running track and basket ball hoop to make the playing field an area for the whole community to use and enjoy.

The council ran a competition to name the play area and the winning name, suggested by eight-year-old Tyler Hopkins was ‘Kings adventure wood’.

The parish council is now looking for the users of the play equipment to take over the safety checks and look after the equipment.

Chairman of the parish council David Rocky said: "The parish council will provide the training for this to happen. This is not an end but a beginning of new life for the play equipment as we still have lots of ideas from the consultation that we wish to put in place.

"It is our intention to work with this group to develop the area further to make it even better, so providing an outdoor space that all members of the community can enjoy."
