MOTORISTS are being advised of diversions in Filton this weekend to allow a footbridge to be demolished.
The 1970s concrete footbridge over the A4174 ring road near the Filton roundabout will be demolished this weekend to ensure minimum disruption for commuters.
The A4174 Filton link road will be closed from 6pm on Friday, May 20, re-opening on Monday, May 23 at 8am.
South Gloucestershire Council, which is overseeing the work, said the footbridge was not used as much by pedestrians any more and required a lot of work to make it safe.
The bridge will be crushed up in situ and the concrete retrieved will be taken away for recycling so that it can be used for future construction projects.
