POLICE in Dursley have recovered a haul of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of between £8,000 and £10,000.

A search warrant was executed at an address in Upper Poole Road on Saturday morning, May 21 and two arrests were made.

A number of bags full of the drug were found and recovered.

Dursley Inspector Tony Jones said the raid was the latest in a series of operations aimed at cracking down on criminality in the town.

"We know that both the use of drugs and the dealing of them cause concern for people within our community," said Insp Jones "Drug misuse is linked to many other forms of criminality, which is why we take action whenever we suspect someone is in possession of or dealing in drugs.

He added: "I hope that this latest activity signals our continued commitment to tackling drugs in the town and would encourage anyone with information on drugs or other crime in the community to get in touch."

The warrant was arranged by staff from the Local Policing Area support team, who were involved in the execution of the warrant.

A 30-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply. Both have been released on police bail until July 13 pending further enquiries.

Police would like to hear from anyone with information in connection with the incident. Dursley Police are also urging the public to report any use or supply of illegal drugs to help them crack down on the problem by calling 0845 090 1234.
