POLICE in Pucklechurch are investigating a fraud where residents are being asked to lend money to a caller who claims to be locked out or to have run out of petrol.
At least three elderly people have been targeted by the male conman, who promised he would return and repay the cash but has not been seen again.
A police spokeswoman said: "Police are keen to hear from anyone who has any information which could help their inquires. Please contact Staple Hill police station on 0845 456 7000."
Officers are reminding residents to use a door chain or spy hole and if you are not sure don’t open the door.

* A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of fraud on Wednesday, May 18 and was released on bail pending further inquiries.
