POLICE have stepped up patrols of a lane in Frampton Cotterell following reports that the area has become a hotspot for drug taking.
Officers have been called to the walkway between Wayleaze and Alexandra Road amid community concerns that youths are meeting there to take drugs.
The problem has been highlighted by Cllr Claire Young (Lib Dem, Westerleigh).
She said: "People living nearby are concerned about the vandalism and anti-social behaviour that goes with the drinking and drug taking."
Neighbourhood PC Finbar Simmons said police had been alerted to the concerns about gatherings of young people and potential drug use in the lane.
He said: "We are now targeting our patrols to the area and I would encourage any resident with any information about the problem to contact me.
"Anyone who spots anything untoward in the lane can call us at Chipping Sodbury police station on 0845 456 7000."
He urged anyone worried about drug use in the area to attend the next Safer Stronger Community Group meeting, which takes place at Iron Acton Village Hall on Tuesday, June 14 (7.30pm).
"This is your opportunity to raise issues like this with police, council and other agency representatives, helping us decide on the local priorities, so please come along if you can," said PC Simmons.
Anyone who is unable to attend the meeting should visit www.avonandsomerset.police.uk to raise any local issues for police.
