ARMED forces fans are in for a treat at the Severnside Military Vehicle Show this month.

The show, which is held at the showground in Cambridge on the A38, is a family event with displays of over 200 military vehicles from trucks to motorcycles.

Exhibits already confirmed include a 1942 International Half Track armoured car used by the United States during World War II, a 1976 UAZ-469 all-terrain Russian military jeep, plus a 1942 Volkswagen Kubelwagon "bucket seat military car" which was designed by Ferdinand Porsche and built by Volkswagen and used during World War II by German army.

Aside from the impressive military vehicle display, there will be a host of other activities including a large militaria market and trade stands, dramatic live demonstrations, marching bands, explosions, 1940’s traditional lindy hop dancing and professional battle re-enactments.

Former Status Quo drummer John Coghlan has supported the show for many years as a regular exhibitor. As a long-standing member of the Military Vehicle Trust, the show organisers and charitable organisation which is dedicated to the conservation of ex-military vehicles, Coghlan will be exhibiting his 1959 Simca Unic Marmon Bocquet, one of 9,000 built by the French Army for use as carrier vehicles. John has been known to perform spontaneously at the show, but mainly he enjoys the atmosphere and chatting to visitors about his passion for military vehicle conservation.

John Keedwell, director of the show, said: "Each year, we attract a diverse variety of military vehicles, including some of the rarest in the world. The show boasts many other attractions for the whole family to enjoy; we aim to be the best military show in the south-west.

"The event is run solely by volunteers and monies raised are donated to both national and military charities including Royal British Legion, Horses for Heroes, Help for Heroes and The Military Vehicle Trust. For the first time we have also included a special price for admittance for active serviceman. Please come and show your support and meet our counties unsung heroes"."

The show is being held on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 10, gates open 9.30am. Tickets cost £5 per day for an adult, £3 concessions, under fives free. For those who hold a current military ID card £3.00
