RESIDENTS in Berkeley and the surrounding areas are invited to a public meeting to find out more about the closure of the local police station and community policing in their area.
The Police Authority is holding a meeting on Monday, June 20, from 7-8pm in Berkeley Town Hall to provide an update on policing in the area.
It follows the news that Berkeley Police Station is to be closed and local beat officers will use a space in the town hall.
The meeting will be chaired by Melanie Gibbs, member of the Police Authority for Berkeley and local Inspector Tony Gibbs.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide feedback following the announcement about the plan to provide a policing presence in Berkeley Town Hall, allowing for the closure of Berkeley station. There will also be a general policing update and a question and answer session.
A spokeswoman for the Police Authority said: "This is a chance for local community members to have their say about policing issues and to ask any questions or raise any concerns they may have.
"This meeting is open to all local residents and we would love to see as many people there as possible."
