ONE of Dursley’s top attractions has relaunched for the summer season with some new exhibits.
The Dursley Sculpture and Play Trail is hoping this summer season will be as good as the last with some old favourites still on display as well as some new additions to the sculptures.
The trail in Twinberrow Woods was launched in 2008 and has proved popular with local residents and visitors to Dursley. In the three years since the launch, the venture has achieved its aim of encouraging people of all ages to use and appreciate the local woodlands.
It has also provided local businesses with a unique opportunity to gain publicity by sponsoring a sculpture while attracting visitors to the area.
Chris Cherry, chairman of Vale Vision who organised the creation of the sculpture trail, said: "The huge success of the Dursley Sculpture and Play Trail is a credit to everyone who has been involved with the project. "It is a shining example of how community groups can work together to gain outstanding results for the benefit of everyone."
A re-launch day was held yesterday and Mr Cherry said they were pleased to welcome new and previous visitors to the site.
He added: "We would be pleased to discuss new sculptures with any local organisation who would be interested in creating their own sculpture and they should contact us at Vale Vision in Long Street, Dursley."
The sculptures have been created by local groups of all ages and abilities and some of them worked closely with professional sculptors. One of the newest sculptures was created by children at Cam Co-operative nursery in Woodfield. Anyone who is interested in being involved with the sculpture trail should contact Vale Vision at 28 Long Street, Dursley, Gloucestershire on 01453 544933 or e-mail: valevision@btconnect.com
