FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze in the roof of a house in Cam while an adult who lived there was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews were called to a house fire in Hopton Road at around 5.50pm on Friday, July 1.
Two fire engines from Dursley and one from Wotton-under-Edge attended and six firefighters tackled the blaze which started in the roof space. Around half of the roof was destroyed by fire.
Two men were treated at the scene by ambulance crews for smoke inhalation and one of them was taken to hospital for further treatment.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
Station manager Clive Pugh said: "Crews were confronted with a fire in the roof of a semi-detached house. Fortunately, neighbours quickly raised the alarm and firefighters were able to contain the fire in the roof space and prevent further spread of fire to other part of the property."
He added: "This incident highlights the importance of having working smoke alarms in domestic properties, to provide early detection and warning of fire to occupants."
