AN ENCHANTING mural is now on display at Thornbury’s community garden thanks to a team of talented artists from Castle School.
The painters created the pastoral fresco in just one day and it is expected to soon become a town landmark.
The work of art was unveiled at a ceremony opened by recently elected mayor Phyllida Parsloe last week.
She said she was impressed by the gifted students’ mural.
"We are so pleased to have this mural in the community," she said.
Thornbury community garden secretary Jenny Ovens said around 20 students helped design the one-of-a-kind piece.
"We talked about what kind of thing they would do but it was totally their own design," she told the Gazette.
The only request they were given was to add the garden's symbol, a robin, to their final sketch.
Members of Christ the King Primary School’s gardening club, who provide the community garden with hanging baskets in the summer, were also in attendance and helped Cllr Parsloe and all the guests celebrate the latest addition to the garden in style.
