POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two dogs were injured when a car hit them near Westerleigh Crematorium.
The lurcher pets were hit by a silver BMW saloon, when the driver undertook the traffic ahead on the B4465 between Westerleigh and Pucklechurch.
The driver swerved the car into a lay-by where the animals were stood with their owner and two other uninjured dogs.
A police spokeswoman said: "At about 5.30pm on Tuesday, May 8 a man was walking his four dogs near Westerleigh Crematorium.
"He was in a lay-by on the B4465 when a silver BMW saloon travelling from Westerleigh towards Pucklechurch undertook the traffic ahead of it, veering into the lay-by and hitting two lurcher dogs.
"The dogs needed veterinary treatment for their injuries, including stitches to open wounds, while the man was unhurt."
Anyone with any information which could help police inquiries into the incident is asked to call Chipping Sodbury police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
