YATE'S only nightclub has closed, it was announced this afternoon.
The managers of Waves, in Yate Shopping Centre, shared the news via its Facebook page today.
In a statement, father and son Chris and Mark Coles said: “Waves is very sad to announce that it’s officially closed.
“Thank you for all your custom over the last six months. We’ve had a ball, some amazing parties and memories and we’ve met some great people along the way, from live acts to awesome DJs.
"But most of all you guys who knew how to party. Big thank you from Waves Management.”
The club opened in the former Riley's snooker hall, in East Walk, last October after calls for many years from people who wanted a late-night facility in Yate.
It is believed the club has closed due to lack of custom. Two weeks ago the Gazette reported how Waves managers had been criticised for tripling its charges for local groups.
