DURSLEY Male Voice Choir is to sing at the prestigious Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham, on September 21, in support of the Gloucestershire Federation of Women’s Institutes.
In a programme entitled An Autumn Serenade, DMVC will be joined by the touring 70-strong Mendip Male Voice Choir, from East Somerset.
The Gloucestershire Federation of Women’s Institutes, made up of some 150 WIs and over 5000 members, is sponsoring the concert to raise funds for the WI’s Denman College, near Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
County federations help to furnish and equip Denman, which provides myriad lifestyle courses, ranging from embroidery to dance, fashion history to yoga, and now welcomes over 10,000 students a year.
As one would expect, the WI Cookery School is the jewel in the Denman College “crown” and, with its purpose-built facilities, it has been named as one of the top 10 in the UK.
Concert tickets, priced at £10, are available from the secretary at WI House, 2 Brunswick Square, Gloucester, GL1 1UL, (01452 523966) or online via: gfwi.org
