It's always good to know that Services of Thanksgiving for the life of a loved and loving person are appreciated! The one we had for Miriam Ealey WAS a real village affair and rightly so. Often we tend to opt for the 'Crem.' thinking that the deceased wouldn't want a 'religious' ceremony. Not so.
We can accomodate almost any request for a service in church without being 'Holier than thou'. I wouldn't want anyone to feel they couldn't have, as your writer mentioned, an old fashioned village service honouring a member of the community', in church. We welcome all.
