Re: The rebuilding of Rednock School.

AS a former student, I am of course delighted that the school has been given the funding to be rebuilt and modernised.

Having said that, I am saddened and disgusted to see that the large tree that stood in front of what I know as the Science Block was cut down last weekend, shortly after the horse chestnut that stood right of it.

The trees must have stood for maybe a hundred years, and regarding the elm tree, many people will remember meeting people there after school, or tying their school ties to it on their final day, or just stopping to admire such a beautiful tree. In this town, it is trees such as this that typify its natural beauty.

I am disappointed to see that something that has been part of the school's premises for so long could be felled simply because it formed an inconvenience to the rebuilding plans. I am sure that there are many who were saddened at the sight of the tree lying on the school field, rather than standing tall as it had for so many years.
