FANS of community radio station GLOSSFM can tune in all year round thanks to its website.
GLOSSFM, formerly Thornburyfm, is a local radio station serving most of South Gloucestershire and parts of Gloucestershire.
Under a Restricted Service Licence, GLOSSFM, which is still transmitted from Thornbury, can only broadcast live twice a year and for just 28 days each time.
However, the radio station is now available to listeners all year round online on its website.
GLOSSFM, which is kept going by hundreds of volunteers, started broadcasting in 2005 as Thornburyfm, but after eight successful broadcasts the station relocated its transmitter to higher ground in the summer of 2009, which meant it could reach a larger area of South Gloucestershire and beyond.
This change in catchment area, which now includes Chepstow, Berkeley, Yate and Bradley Stoke, also triggered the name change to GLOSSFM.
The biannual broadcasts, usually held in April and November, now attract 100,000 listeners.
Glyn Roylance has been with the station since it started and is a director as well as a member of the technical team, making sure the equipment does what it is supposed to do.
She said: "It is very rewarding and you meet loads of new people while learning new skills."
GLOSS FM is owned by Severnvale Media Community Interested Company (CIC), and being a CIC means any profit the station makes must used within the local community.
"We are here to offer a service to the community and the business we get from local companies allows us to finance the station along with looking for the next Chris Moyles," said Ray Penny, from GLOSSFM.
GLOSSFM will next be live on air from Monday, November 1 until Sunday, November 2.
