DAN Housego is thought to be attracting interest from Glamorgan after being released by Gloucestershire.
The 26-year-old batsman’s departure has not been officially announced by Gloucestershire, but it is understood he was not offered a new contract at the end of the season and left the club along with 19-year-old off-spinner Tom Shrewsbury.
Housego joined Gloucestershire on a three-year deal from Middlesex ahead of the 2012 season but only made one County Championship appearance this year.
Former England under-19 international Shrewsbury, who has played for Thornbury in the West of England Premier League over the last three seasons, came through the club’s academy to sign a professional contract after making his first class and Twenty20 debuts during the 2013 campaign.
However, he was not able to force his way into the side this year and Miles Hammond, who will be available regularly in the 2015 season after finishing his school education, is seen as a better prospect with Tom Smith and Jack Taylor already on the books as the club’s senior spinners.
