GFA Senior Amateur Cup Third Round Moreton Rangers 2 Cam Bulldogs 0.

CAM manager Stuart Grimwood was left frustrated as his players gave away a straightforward chance of reaching the County Cup quarter-finals.

Moreton Rangers did not look any more difficult on paper than the fellow Cheltenham League sides Northway and Andoversford Nomads that the Bulldogs had put out in the previous rounds.

However, Rangers advanced without too many problems in the end.

Grimwood told the Gazette: "We were so, so poor. Only Joe Iatalese can come away from the game with any credit at all.

"The chance of a quarter-final place was there for the taking but the players were not up for it and had a rude awakening."

The heavy pitch at Moreton-in-Marsh meant that a great game was never in the offing but Cam never got going in the first half.

Rangers took the lead midway through the half when a superbly struck shot from 25 yards went through the clutches of veteran assistant boss Dave Stevenson, who was deputising in goal for the absent Ben Jagger.

However, Stevenson went some way to making amends soon afterwards when he tipped a deflected free-kick against the woodwork.

The Bulldogs should have levelled in the second half but Martin Booth missed the target when a square pass would have given Dave Trinder a tap-in.

Cam tried to apply pressure in the second half but there was simply no end product and Moreton always looked dangerous on the break.

Rangers eventually took one of their chances to kill the game off ten minutes from time.
