Gloucestershire Badgers Circle Newent U16s 2 Wotton-under-Edge U16 6.

WOTTON started rapidly in the first few minutes, distributing the ball down the wings to Greg Wilcox and James Ferraby, who both made strong passes to the centre.

Decisive defending by Newent blocked a shot by Jamie Gosling to give a penalty corner to Wotton and Dan Gosling scored the first goal in a rapid sequence of opening play.

This was followed by two equally impressive penalty corners conversions from Jamie Gosling and Tim Journeaux.

After the half-time whistle, a run from Journeaux set up captain Henry Collins to make it 4-0.

A rapid counter attack by Newent made it 4-1 but consistently solid defending from the back three of Greg Hull, Jeremy Hull and Will Bugg kept the opposition at bay.

Collins then returned the favour as he set up Journeaux for his second but Newent created a strong attack to score a further goal for the hosts.

In the last few minutes, a shot took a deflection for goal number six and a hat-trick for the delighted Journeaux.

Goalkeeper Joe Avis made a series of imaginative and spectacular saves, while decisive play in midfield by Alex Higgs moved the ball forward and kept Newent under pressure throughout the match.

An overall great confident team effort makes this the fourth win in a row for Wotton.
