Dursley Dolphins took a squad of swimmers to Hereford to compete in a level three Open Meet. The timing of the event could have been better as the Dolphins Club Championship only finished the previous night but the determination on the swimmers faces showed that a little thing like tiredness was not going to deter them.
Marianne Seal took top honours as she competed in the daunting 200m Butterfly for the first time.
From start to finish Marianne swam a very even paced race and comfortably won the Gold Medal in the 13 yrs age group.
Pam Sellen continued her improvement with a Bronze Medal in the 200m Breaststroke in a new personal best time.
George Froggatt was involved in some very good races and was rewarded with Bronze medals in both the 100 and 200m Breaststroke events 4th place in the 100m Free and 5th in the 100m Backstroke.
Sam Hawkins swam best ever times in all three of his events with his best position being 8th in the 100m Breaststroke.
The 100m Breaststroke proved popular with the Dursley swimmers as Ben Miller gained his best position of 6th in it and Pam Sellen finished just outside the medals in 4th.
Jessica Sellen had top ten finishes in all four of her events while Jacob Seal also just missed the medals with 4th place in the 200m Breaststroke and 5th place in the 200m Free.
Elizabeth Grimshaw completed the line-up with two very solid swims in the 100m Free and Backstroke and she was very close to breaking her PB in both the events.
Of the twenty four races swam fourteen were new personal best times which was remarkable considering the amount of swimming that the children had in the previous two weeks so well done to you all.
