Following a frustrating year in which the majority of matches were cancelled, excitement is building at Thornbury Hockey Club.
The ladies have made a strong start to the season, including winning their opening game 14-0, while the men will play their first ever game this weekend.
Thornbury, competing in Berkeley Division 3 of the West Clubs Women's Hockey League, thrashed Old Bristolians 5 on September 25.
The Thornbury team was a mixture of youth and experience with seven players under the age of 18.
Coz Deas scored five times while Mollie Glew and Jo Deas both bagged braces. Esther Jenkinson, Alice Atkinson, Connie Talbot, Summer Johnson and Vicky Ball also found the back of the net.
Thornbury followed this up with a 3-3 draw away to UWE Bristol on Saturday.
They travel to Knowle 3 on Saturday while on Sunday the men play their first ever match - against Abbey Wood at The Castle School.
Thornbury also has a thriving juniors section and is always looking for new members of any age.
Training is at The Castle School astroturf every Monday from 6.30pm-7.30pm for juniors and 7.30pm-8.30pm for senior ladies and men.
