Severnside Seagulls U7s 3 Quedgeley U7s 0 Severnside travelled to Quedgeley on Saturday for their return match on a very wet and windy morning.
The Seagulls got off to a great start when a jinking run from Bradley Davis resulted in a great shot giving the home keeper no chance.
With ten minutes played Bradley Gibbs made it two when his shot out foxed everyone with a goal from a very tight angle.
Just before half-time Quedgeley had a great chance to pull a goal back but some solid defending by Truan Taylor and Will Greenwell foiled the Quedgeley attack.
The second half started with Quedgeley attacking and a great shot was acrobatically saved by the agile Ryan Davis.
With five minutes remaining the Seagulls wrapped the game up when a great pass from the impressive Cameron Butcher found Gibbs and he made no mistake with a thunderbolt from ten yards.
A special mention must go to Alex Smith, Billy Scaplehorn and Jack Coleman who all had good games Man of the match: Truan Taylor Severnside Seahawks U7s 1 Quedgeley U7s 1 Severnside hit the game running in this match with strong performances coming from Kieran Lawrence, Kieran Birch and Ezra Price.
It was no surprise when they took the lead through Birch who out paced the home defence to give the keeper no chance with a great shot. With the Seahawks chomping at the bit they piled on the pressure but could not turn it in to goals.
The second half started with Quedgeley in a more determined mood and they scored a deserved equaliser when the home team striker beat 3 players before slotting the ball home into the bottom corner.
With five minutes remaining the Seahawks nearly conceded a second but a great save by Hectar McDonald kept them in the match.
The midfield of Alex Thornton, Harry Mills and debutant George Martin nearly snatched the win for the Seahawks when they combined to pull a great save from the home keeper.
A special mention must go to the Severnside defence of Gareth Hodgkins, Mathew Gawenda and Adam Powell who were all outstanding.
