GLOUCESTERSHIRE 'BADGERS' (U-16s) CIRCLE Wotton-under-Edge 3 Stroud 2 Wotton's Badgers came out on top in this hard-fought derby match against Stroud at Castle School.
Wotton dominated early play and took the lead after a well-planned penalty corner gave Tim Journeaux a far post tap in from a Will Bugg cross.
Stroud slowly brought themselves back into the game, and with Wotton failing to clear, Stroud had a close range shot to equalise.
An almost exact repeat of the first goal from a penalty corner gave Wotton the lead again going into half time.
The second half was similar to the first with Wotton having most possession without taking advantage. Despite being on top, Wotton conceded a fast breakaway goal following indecision in their opponent's half.
Wotton pressed further to be rewarded with a Jamie Gosling goal after a strong run and precise pass by skipper Henry Collins.
Wotton kept their composure to hold on.
This win follows on from the 11-0 annihilation of Cirencester the previous week and maintains their good record against the stronger teams in the Badgers Circle.
