Stuart Fleetwood's mum says that home comforts played a part in his decision to stay at Forest Green.
The striker rejected a £175,000 move to Crewe last week after discussing it through with his agent and family, and credited his mum Anita as one of the reasons for staying at the New Lawn.
"He did speak to me and his girlfriend Helen and I think the main thing is that Stuart is happy here," she said.
"He's happy at home, he's nice and settled. He was born and bred in Gloucester and he went to school in Newent."
"I wouldn't have been too happy (if he moved) but I would have supported him. I knew he would probably stay."
Anita also says that she and her son have been made very welcome at Forest Green since Fleetwood signed for them in the summer of 2007, and paid tribute to manager Jim Harvey.
"Jim has given him all the support that he can, he's helped his confidence so I think he's made the right decision," she said.
"Stuart just wants to play football, and he can do that with Forest Green."
Fleetwood has scored 30 goals in all competitions but has failed to find the back of the net in his last five games.
