IT proved to be a mixed weekend for the three women's teams at Yate Hockey Club.
The firsts were left to rue missed chances when they conceded three goals in five minutes to lose 3-1 at home to Old Bristolians.
Yate dominated the first half, creating numerous chances as the opposition struggled to cope with the skill of Antonia Joy and others. The Old Bs keeper made many saves and Yate couldn't quite make the breakthrough.
In the second half Yate finally found the backboard when Kyishia Cooke's pass from just inside the D wrong footed the keeper and went in.
Yate created more more chances to no avail before Old Bs scored a clinical breakaway goal.
Two minutes later the visitors stunned Yate with another to take the lead.
The home side pressed for an equaliser but were heartbroken when Old Bs managed to score a third.
As for the seconds, they continued to maintain their spot at the top of the league.
Yate dominated the game and possession from the start, leading to an early goal from Kim Harris just two minutes in. They continued to maintain possession and defend Lydney’s attacks, leading to another three goals from Sally Thomas-Ellis (2) and Kim Harris in the first half.
In the second half, Yate continued to hold their performance, resulting in another goal from Kim Harris, set up by Penny Kawecki running with the ball from defence to attack in order to assist.
Yate gained their 6th and final goal when Sarah Wells scored from the post. Lydney scored a second consolation goal from a break away but the resounding 6-2 victory puts Yate 2s eight points clear at the top of the table.
And finally the thirds were also in action against UWE.
The ball pace was good and Yate managed to hold the score to 0-0 at the break thanks to a phenomenal performance from goalkeeper and player of the match Claire Milner (with eleven of the fourteen votes), keeping Yate in the game.
Excellent performances from Emma Smith, Sophie Wistow and Kirsty Brain kept Yate equal until shortly into the second half when UWE managed to break the deadlock and scored their first goal. This didn't deter Yate in their pursuit of a goal but the UWE defence managed to stop every attempt.
UWE scored another goal, with two more following in quick succession with the final score 4-0 in the university team's favour.
