REX Mannings scored a brilliant debut goal for Yate Town but it was not enough to prevent them from defeat to play-off chasing Poole Town on Saturday.
Yate went ahead in under 30 seconds when Zak Drew's brilliant cross was met by the head of Ross Staley at the back post.
Poole equalised just a couple of minutes later when Jake Andrews' corner was turned home by Will Spetch and The Dolphins completed the turnaround on the stroke of half-time when Tony Lee headed in Spetch's free-kick.
Luke Pardoe scored a brilliant solo goal to make it 3-1 15 minutes from time before Mannings' left-footed strike from 25 yards found the bottom corner to give Yate late hope.
But it was not to be as The Bluebells suffered a third league defeat in eight days to leave them hovering dangerously above the relegation zone in the Southern League Premier South.
Yate have played three and four games more than Harrow Borough and Hendon below them in the drop zone and now only sit one point above Borough and three ahead of Hendon.
Those two sides are both in action in mid-week. Hendon host Hayes and Yeading United whilst Borough go to Salisbury.
As for Poole, they ended a run of three league matches without a victory to move themselves back into the play-off spots. They host Winchester City on Tuesday night.
