CAM 1st XI made it two from two with a dominant victory at home to Rockhampton 2nds at the weekend.
The away side opted to bat first and soon made a solid start as openers White and Beale advanced the score to 65 before a caught and bowled by Alex Ballard started off a procession of wickets for the home side.
The spin pairing of Jake Dolbear (2-21) and Gareth Udal (3-14) put a real stranglehold on the scoring through the middle overs. Both men picking up a wicket bowled and Craig Mills taking 3 catches as the away side’s scoring ground to a halt.
George Dolling (1-14) returned after a tight opening spell and picked up a wicket through a Ballard catch before Atkinson (1-28) also got in on the act with a clean bowled.
Adam Holloway finished the innings off with his second delivery through a comfortable Dolbear catch as Rockhampton were bowled out for 108 in the 37th over.
With a low target to chase, Cam’s openers Sam Buck and Craig Mills made steady progress knowing there was plenty of time to knock the runs off.
Mills displayed sporadic aggression while Buck was patient and cashed in with some lovely drives when the ball was over pitched. With wides from the away side assisting Cam’s progress, there was only one wicket to fall, that of Mills for 37 as he was caught at cover.
Malpass (12*) joined Buck (31*) and saw the home side to victory without further alarm as they reached their target with just over 20 overs to spare.
