THREE girls teams from Thornbury Town competed in the recent tournament hosted by the club.
20 girls were involved across the Red, White and Black teams, all of them aged between 10 and 13.
All the teams worked hard in the group stages meaning the black team got to the quarter-final, as well as the white team, who unfortunately went out on penalties.
Thornbury’s red team got through to the final after winning on penalties in the semi against Dursley Lionesses, and the final was also decided from the spot.
Maja Hawryluk continued with her fantastic saves in goal and Paige Monks scored her penalty, leaving it to Maja to score her penalty to win the tournament for the Red team.
For some girls, it was the first football tournament they had competed in, while for others the tournament marked the end of their first season playing in the league.
Next season, there will be three Thornbury Girls teams, U12s, U14s and U16s. Anyone interested in coaching the U12s team should contact manager Eleanor Bush at ebush15@outlook.com.
