YATE Town wrapped up their pre-season campaign with a 2-2 draw against Bristol City Academy in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday.
Dan Dempsey put Yate ahead in the 13th minute before George Box doubled their lead on the hour mark with a strike from 20-yards.
But The Bluebells were unable to hold onto their lead as Bristol scored twice in the closing ten minutes to earn themselves a draw.
Yate now look ahead to their Southern League Division One South opener against Bashley away from home.
It will be the first game back at Step 4 for Yate, who were relegated from the Premier South division last season.
They will be eager to bounce straight back up this year, but it will no easy feat in a notoriously difficult division. Midfielder Chris Peck has experience of playing in this division and he says that it is all about having the right attitude.
"It is a very competitive league," he said. "Anyone can beat anyone on their day so consistency is the key factor.
"We need to sure we are all doing the right things before the games, turning up with the right mentality and when we are on the pitch, we need to do the right things as well.
"It's a tough league so there are bound to be ups and downs but we have to make sure we stick together.
"For me, if you are a tight-knit group it will get you so much further. When it gets to the nitty gritty and you need to scrap, you need to have that bond.
"If you are a group of mates off the pitch then you know you are going to work that bit harder to get yourselves through the tough moments in the season."
