GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S miserable 2008 campaign continued at the weekend as Middlesex took control of the Liverpool Victoria County Championship division two clash at Bristol.
The visitors ended yesterday on 86-2 in their second innings to hold a lead of 197 going into the final day.
Gloucestershire captain Jon Lewis dismissed both openers in quick succession to reduce Middlesex to 36-2 but Owais Shah (10*) and Ed Joyce (38*) put on 50 before close of play.
That was after the county's batsmen capitulated once again, with only in-form wicket keeper Steve Snell offering real resistance.
He scored an unbeaten 65 from 70 balls, but no other batsman reached any more than 19 as Middlesex bowled them out for 189, as young seamer Daniel Evans took 5-54.
In a rain interrupted first innings, an unbeaten 137 from Eoin Morgan helped Middlesex reach 300-7 declared.
Thornbury's Anthony Ireland took 2-65 on his return to the side, with Lewis taking 2-40.
