IT was another action-packed weekend for the senior teams representing Yate Hockey Club.
Here is a round-up of all the results from the five league games:
Yate Ladies 1
Yate Ladies 1s were on the road and faced a well-prepared and lively Chippenham side. The first half saw a few chances created but Sarah Willis made some key saves for Yate and at the other end Yate couldn't make visits into the opposition D pay.
Coming out at 0-0 in the second half the match was there to be won. Unfortunately it was Chippenham who made the breakthrough; a break down the right leading to a cross and the home player first to the ball at the far post to score.
Yate came back fighting and played the ball around the opposition better. Player of the Match Di Pugh-Hudson secured Yate's first of a string of penalty corners, but the post and a number of clearances off the line by defenders kept the ball out.
Yate persevered and a quickly taken free hit by Zoe Vale saw her thread a ball into the D to Kyishia Cooke. Cooke beat the defender and then lifted her cross behind the keeper where Sarah-Jayne Willetts was on hand to deflect the ball home.
Yate Mens 1s
Yate Men's 1s made it three wins in a row when they beat Whitchurch 2 3-1 at home on Saturday.
They were 2-0 up at half-time but the visitors pulled a goal back with ten minutes to go to make it a nervy finish, but Josh Whittle scored the winner to secure his second of the day. The other Yate goal came from Nick Perry Gough.
Yate Ladies 2s
Yate took on a strong Corsham Ladies 1s side who controlled most of the match.
Yate managed to keep them at bay until 60 minutes, when Corsham scored twice to seal a 2-0 victory. Yate remain in a tenuous position in West Women's Division 2 East.
Yate Mens 2s
Yate Mens 2s lost 4-3 away to Uni of Bristol 5 Development.
Goal scorers for Yate were Will D, James Smith and James Clarke. Nevertheless, as they are a development team, the score is recorded as 0-0 for league purposes and Yate remain 5 points clear at the top of West Men's Bridge Division 2.
Yate Ladies 3s
It was an afternoon of frustration for Yate, as they suffered a 4-0 defeat at Dursley Ladies 1s.
Goals from Kiara Ford, Ros Rocke, Georgia Macey and Aleisha Stockley keeps Dursley second in the West Women's Berkeley Division 2 standings, three points behind Bristol & West Ladies 2s.
